The first programme was broadcast in1974
when Radio Medica was opened by Jimmy Saville. In those days the
station operated with very basic equipment from a small converted
bathroom at the old St. John's Hospital in Goole. Things progressed
until the station was broadcasting to three hospitals in Goole, as
well as hospitals in Howden, Rawcliffe and Hook. In 1986, with the
completion of the new hospital, most of the other buildings closed
and a brand new studio was built at the Woodland Avenue complex.
Even in those days the station was still using only vinyl records
and tape cartridge machines. Progression in the late 80's saw the
fitting of CD players and in the 90's Mini Disc machines made their
debut. The year 2000 saw one of the biggest changes with the
extension of broadcasting hours to 24 hours a day.
